Western Cargo Terminal initiated a one-month transition from its old mode to the new one on February 17, 2014 and changed its customs code from "2233" to "2211" (originally "2233") upon the request of Logistics Control Section of the Pudong Airport Customs, so as to ensure the steady progress of the new customs clearance formality implemented by the Customs, which allows “Pre-declaration and release upon arrival” for outbound general cargoes.

The Clearance Documents Room of Western Cargo Terminal was reported the first batch of outbound cargo identified by the new code at 10:29 am, February 19, 2014. The officers then sent a report confirming the arrival of the cargo through the Interface System of China Eastern Airlines Logistics Customs. Merely two minutes later, the officers received the electronic release instruction for the completed waybill, marking a smooth switch with stampless electronic operation.

Additionally, clearance agents were informed about how to operate under the new mode, which facilitates the seamless cooperation between agents and the officers and provides a solid foundation for this transition. Meanwhile, the implementation of this new mode represents a new milestone for Pudong Airport Customs. (Western Cargo Terminal / Article by Pan Qingqing, photo by Wang Zhijing)
